Civilization vi online multiplayer1/7/2024 Yes, multiplayer games regularly use simultaneous timed turns, and you want to make sure you have enough time to do all your simming as well as all your war moves. Quick combat and quick movement because the slower animations take more processing power and also take more time away from your actual turn. I also recommend you turn your graphics settings to a lower setting, and enable quick combat and quick movement. Military strength, gold balance, science and culture per turn, as well as other valuable information for each civilization you’ve met will be displayed there at all times. Knowledge is power, and this ribbon at the top of your screen will give you valuable insight with just a quick glance. You’ll find most people set this to ‘Always Show’. In terms of game settings, in the Interface settings of the Game Options menu, there’s an option called ‘Show Yields in HUD Ribbon’. The only downside to not owning all the DLC is that you cannot play as any civ you do not own. In CPL, the host will usually have all the DLCs, allowing those without them to play against civs they may not own as well as play with wonders and city-states that would normally be missing from their single player games. Ok, back to the advice First things first, let’s get your game set up for multiplayer You don’t need all of the downloadable content (DLC) content, but you should have both of the expansions, unless the people you’re playing with agree to play with the ruleset you do own.

Archival footage lays out on one hand the virulent cruelty of Anita Bryant’s anti-gay speeches and the unabashed homophobia of law enforcement leaders sneering that sodomy is a crime, and the rage of AIDS protests and the pleasures of queer nightlife on the other. Last Call ensures viewers won’t suffer from the same cluelessness, however. Instead, the comment highlights how little the police understood (or cared to understand) about the communities they were meant to be investigating, or about the justified anger and distrust those populations might harbor against them. As far as the authorities are concerned, “The gay thing wasn’t really relevant to the investigation other than finding out who might kill him, and where he hung out.” Presumably, the cops mean to head off any suggestion that they would’ve taken Anderson’s case more seriously if he’d been straight. “Why is the emphasis on the gay part?” a Pennsylvania cop asks Caronna at one point. I don’t suppose it’s a spoiler to say the killer is eventually identified, or that the final episode follows the case through to the arrest, the trial and the verdict.īut I also suspect it’s no surprise that it takes the cops an infuriatingly long time to get there - nor that the deeply ingrained homophobia of law enforcement specifically and American society more broadly is what slows them down. Director Anthony Caronna (FX’s Pride) retraces the investigations step by step, through interviews with the officers who worked the cases back then, and who even now seem to recall them as uniquely horrifying. All the targets - Peter Anderson, Thomas Mulcahy, Anthony Marrero, Michael Sakara - were gay men picked up in Manhattan one evening only to turn up hours or days later as severed body parts in roadside trash cans outside the city. Straightforwardly, the four-part, four-hour docuseries centers on four killings that took place around the New York metro area between 19. Along the way, it transforms Last Call from a simple retelling into a powerful act of reclamation.Įxecutive producers: Anthony Caronna, Howard Gertler, Liz Garbus, Dan Cogan, Jon Bardin, Kate Barry, Elon Green, Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, AJ Dix, Matt Maher, Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, Tina Nguyen This line of inquiry yields righteous anger and unspeakable sorrow it also taps into love and courage and a determined sense of hope. It’s a rare true-crime docuseries whose attention is turned not toward death but toward life - that cares more about who the victims were, the people who cherished them, the communities that embraced them and the histories that claimed them, than about how they were snuffed out. The triumph of HBO‘s Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York is how deftly it flips that balance. They’re turned into sidenotes and details, objects to be acted upon rather than worthy subjects in their own right. But amid all that horrified leering, the lives destroyed can get erased a second time. Understandably so: The murders are of course shocking, the details sensational, the killer inherently bizarre and the race to find them urgent. It can be so easy, in a serial killer story, to lose sight of all but the nastiest details.

Garcia bits and spurs for sale1/6/2024 Garcia period bear a variety of marks in different sites, depending on the maker and the year made, but all are a variation on the basic “G. The pieces from each era are distinguished by different makers marks, which are stamped into the inside of the bit or spurs. G S Garcia pieces bearing a backwards N (in NEV) are commonly believed to have been built between 19. (The hiatus between 19 was due to a shortage of materials caused by World War II.) Garcia, from 1896 (when the shop began building bits and spurs in-house) to 1933 Salinas ’ Garcia Saddlery from 1945 to 1958 and Les Garcia, Reno, from 1960 to 1978. Garcia pieces built prior to 1978 are generally divided into three distinct periods: G. However, it is not so easy to be sure of the origin of older pieces, which are by far the most sought after. Capriola ’s in Elko, Nevada is the only place where new Garcias are sold, making it easy to be sure a new bit or spurs purchased is the real thing. Unfortunately, the market has recently been flooded by imitation Garcias, built by unscrupulous makers seeking to profit unlawfully from the trademarked Garcia name. Collectors, enchanted and intrigued by the mystique of the old West, seek the vintage pieces like a pirate seeks treasure. However, cowboys and horsemen are no longer the only ones in the market for Garcia bits and spurs. Just as they were at the turn of the century, Garcias are still used by working cowboys everywhere. The same mouthpiece and cheekpiece designs are used that were used in Guadalupe ’s time, with the addition of a few new cheekpiece patterns. Today, Garcia bits and spurs continue to be built by carefully trained Mexican craftsmen who proudly continue the tradition of quality and beauty expected of the Garcia name. Capriola Company in Elko, bought the Garcia company, thus bringing the name, and the legend, full circle. In 1978, Doug and Paula Wright, owners of the J. Bits, spurs, and saddles were all crafted at Garcia Saddlery until 1957, when Les took the silversmithing business to Reno, Nevada, establishing Garcia Bit and Spur Manufacturing Company. The legacy was left to his three sons, Les, Henry, and Eddie, who moved the business to Salinas, California. With that, Garcia was vaulted into world-wide fame, and the little saddle shop remained a successful part of the Elko economy until 1933, when Guadalupe Garcia passed on. Louis World’s Fair, but at the Lewis and Clark Exposition in Portland, Oregon as well-an achievement unmatched before or since. Using the finest leather, gold, silver, and diamonds, the Garcia craftsmen built the World ’s Fair Saddle, which won gold medals at not only the St. Even so, Garcia knew he could be better still, and set out to show the world the skill of the small-town artisans by crafting the most exquisite saddle known to man. For the working cowboy, there was no better source for beautiful, consistently well built tack. Included in the catalogue were the beautiful bits and spurs, sought after even then by cowboys everywhere. Garcia Harness and Saddlery) was so wildly successful that it was necessary to relocate to a larger building after only a year of business.Įncouraged by his success in the Elko area, Garcia introduced a catalogue in 1899, which offered the quality products to a broader range of customers. Garcia’s intuition paid off his fledgling Elko business (G. At that time, Elko was a booming cowtown, a virtual Mecca for working cowboys -cowboys that appreciated the quality gear that Garcia had spent years learning to make. Garcia left his home and business in Santa Margarita, California behind to seek his fortune in Elko, Nevada. It was in 1894 that the young Guadalupe S. Garcia bits and spurs have been a deeply rooted part of our Western heritage since the late 1800s, introduced during the heyday of the cattle industry, immediately becoming an integral part of the American cowboy legend. The Garcia legacy is a rich one, spanning a century with a name synonymous with excellence. It is easy, then, to understand why Garcia, based in Elko, Nevada, is one of the most regularly imitated bit and spur makers today. The same holds true for the art of silver bit and spur making. It is said that imitation is the most sincere form of admiration, and throughout the ages, the most famous artists have naturally been the ones most frequently imitated. For every form of art, there are artists, and there are imitators.

Yeah just roll with it baby1/6/2024 And growing up, I loved the Great American Songbook so much, and that kind of sound, but I felt like there was no one kind of on the pop scene doing that… no one there for, like, jazz or Great American Songbook-adjacent music. Because there are so many amazing jazz singers and more traditional singers that already serve an older audience. I definitely set out to specifically make sure that Gen Z heard my music, and… “market it to them” sounds really bleak, but, you know, to make sure that those were the first ears hearing it. But yeah, I have quite a young fan base, and it’s definitely not by accident. Even for a venue like this, I’m sure they’re more dressed up than they would usually be. They definitely dress up, though, I will give them that. And then I remembered that most of the audience is going to be college-aged or a little bit beyond, so a hoodie may be more appropriate. I started thinking about it again in terms of what to wear to the show tonight, I thought, well, this kind of music feels like classic black-jacket music. Philharmonic, and because of that, and because your music is so steeped in the music of the ‘40s and ‘50s, I expected it to be an older audience - which, with some exceptions, was not the case at all. Variety had an in-depth conversation with Laufey (full name: Laufey Lin Jónsdóttir) backstage at her penultimate U.S. Could it be the Hollywood Bowl? She’s already done one show with the LA Phil, and given her rabid fan base in Los Angeles, even that sizable a setting would likely be a quick sellout, if the prediction proves true. 7, not going on sale till early next year. Only one show officially marked down for her ’24 itinerary hasn’t sold out yet, and that’s because it’s an L.A. This past week, she put on sale a 2024 tour that will take her to bigger venues, and those dates, too, immediately put up “sold out” notices. area, resale tickets were nearly impossible to come by for under $500. The tour she did this year was an instant sellout, and for the four shows she recently did in the L.A. But to really understand the hysteria for Laufey among her growing fan base, you’ll have to attend one of her concerts and hear the Lay-vay! chants.

Hells itch constant pain1/5/2024 The itching reactions caused by chloroquine or cowhage don't respond to anti-histamines. This severe itching reaction is often treated with herbal remedies, such as cow dung in India, or moist tobacco in Mozambique. The local population of Northern Mozambique call it the ‘mad bean’, because those who touch it to begin scratching vigorously and uncontrollably. In Africa and India, there’s an infamous bean plant called cowhage. It can become serious enough that many are forced to discontinue the medication. In some African countries, 70 percent of patients treated with chloroquine develop an itch. For example, chloroquine is a drug that has been used to treat malaria since the 1940s, although it has an adverse side effect in dark-skinned Africans. Many of us who suffer from seasonal allergies have to take antihistamine drugs to block our over-reacting histamine receptors.īut most chronic itches do not respond to antihistamine. Nerve cells have receptors that ‘sniff out’ the presence of this histamine, and trigger an itch reaction. In the first type, mast cells under the skin release a chemical called histamine. There are broadly two types of chronic itches. But repentance follows too annoyingly close at its heels." - Montaigne. "Scratching is one of nature's sweetest gratifications, and as ready at hand as any. Hours later, in the emergency room, her doctors informed her that she had managed to scratch through her skull, all the way to her brain. After many sleepless nights of relentless scratching, she woke up one morning with a greenish fluid trickling down her face. The patient had recently been diagnosed with shingles, a disease whose symptoms often include extreme itchiness. In a masterful essay entitled The Itch, the surgeon Atul Gawande recounts the case of an HIV patient suffering from a severe chronic itch. But this protective mechanism can also go awry. It’s a useful instinct to rid yourself of fleas, mites, mosquitoes and other small insects that might carry infection. As far as we know, every animal with a backbone has a scratching reflex. In 1660, the German physician Samuel Hafenreffer defined an itch as "an unpleasant sensation associated with the desire to scratch." As an operational definition, it does the job. But then there are those tortured few for whom scratching provides little relief. For most of us it ends here, in a fleeting moment of bliss. That familiar irritating feeling, swiftly followed by the inevitable scratch.

Uruguay is today a democratic constitutional republic, with a president who serves as both head of state and head of government. The military government persecuted leftists, socialists, and political opponents, resulting in deaths and numerous instances of torture by the military the military relinquished power to a civilian government in 1985. A series of economic crises and the political repression against left-wing guerrilla activity in the late 1960s and early 1970s put an end to a democratic period that had begun in the early 20th century, culminating in the 1973 coup d'état, which established a civic-military dictatorship. It remained subject to foreign influence and intervention throughout the 19th century, with the military playing a recurring role in domestic politics. Uruguay won its independence between 18, following a four-way struggle between Portugal and Spain, and later Argentina and Brazil. The Spanish founded Montevideo as a military stronghold in the early 18th century because of the competing claims over the region. Uruguay was colonized by Europeans late relative to neighboring countries. There are also other tribes Guarani, Chaná when the Portuguese first established Colónia do Sacramento in 1680.
